We are thrilled to announce that PensumGPT, a project we helped Marketsquare build, has won the prestigious Rambuk Award. While we’re proud of this recognition, what excites us even more is the impact PensumGPT has had in sparking a critical conversation about Denmark’s high school curriculum. This AI-driven tool was designed with one clear purpose: to allow everyone to engage with the full Danish high school curriculum in a way that reveals just how outdated it truly is—largely shaped by the writings of "white dead men" with archaic values.

The Problem with an Outdated Curriculum

Denmark’s high school curriculum has long been criticized for being out of touch with modern values. It remains dominated by voices that no longer reflect the diversity or complexity of today’s society. Much of the content is drawn from old texts that fail to address contemporary issues such as multiculturalism, gender equality, and global interconnectedness.

PensumGPT was designed to make this issue not just a theoretical critique but something everyone could experience firsthand.

How PensumGPT Exposed the Flaws in the Curriculum

We built PensumGPT to allow users to engage with the Danish high school curriculum in a revolutionary way—by chatting with it as if it were a character itself. This AI-driven tool processes the entire curriculum and presents it as a dynamic conversation, enabling users to ask questions, explore themes, and receive explanations directly from the texts. But what it also does is illustrate, in real-time, just how out of touch much of this material is with modern society.

Through PensumGPT, users can have conversations with centuries-old content, revealing how disconnected it often feels from the issues that matter most today. The project was not just about creating a tool for educational purposes—it was about shining a spotlight on the problems embedded within the curriculum itself. Users quickly noticed the lack of diverse perspectives and the dominance of outdated values, sparking discussions both online and in classrooms.

Making Headlines and Driving Change

The impact of PensumGPT extended far beyond just being an innovative educational tool—it quickly became a catalyst for national debate. The project caught the attention of the media, and soon it made headlines across Denmark. One of the most notable moments came when the Danish Minister of Education was asked about the problems with the curriculum on national TV. Faced with the clear evidence that the high school curriculum was no longer fit for purpose, the Minister publicly acknowledged the need for a review, committing to reevaluate the materials that form the foundation of Denmark’s educational system.

This was a pivotal moment. PensumGPT had achieved what no traditional critique could—it made the flaws of the system not only visible but undeniable by letting people interact with it directly.

How We Helped Build PensumGPT

Partnering with Marketsquare on this project was a unique opportunity for us to combine cutting-edge AI technology with a bold social mission. We helped shape PensumGPT, offering users an intuitive and engaging interface by chatting directly with PensumGPT as direct messages to an Instagram profile created for this very purpose. Our role in developing the technical architecture and integrating GPT technology was critical in making PensumGPT not just functional, but truly impactful.

By building this tool, we empowered users to engage with the curriculum in ways they had never been able to before, making it clear just how much reform is needed in Denmark’s educational materials.

Why the Rambuk Award Matters

Winning the Rambuk Award is a testament to the power of innovation and collaboration. The award recognizes projects that push the boundaries of creativity and make a significant impact, and PensumGPT fits that bill perfectly. The jury praised the project for its daring approach to exposing the flaws in the education system and for using AI in a meaningful, socially relevant way.

But for us, the true success lies in the conversation PensumGPT has sparked. It’s not just about the technology—it’s about the way it has made people reconsider what we teach our children and why. This is a conversation that is long overdue, and we’re proud to have played a role in bringing it to the forefront.

Looking Forward: Shaping the Future of Education

PensumGPT has shown that AI can do more than just automate tasks—it can also drive social change. By making it easy for anyone to engage with the Danish high school curriculum, we’ve opened the door to critical discussions about what we teach and how we teach it. The future of education is about more than just keeping up with technological advancements—it’s about ensuring that what we teach reflects the world we live in today.

As Denmark moves forward with reviewing its curriculum, PensumGPT has fulfilled its purpose and as a result has been shut down. We’re excited to see how similar projects evolves and how they might inspire further reform in educational systems both in Denmark and beyond.

If you're interested in learning more about how AI can drive social impact or have a project in mind that you’d like to explore, feel free to reach out. We’re always open to new collaborations that push boundaries and spark meaningful change.
